About

Hawkesworth has been one of the UK’s leading electrical and fire safety compliance providers since 1993, with over 200 staff, a five-star rated service, and operations across the UK and Ireland. Despite its strong reputation, the business’s website wasn’t keeping pace – it was self-managed, never properly optimised, and generating very few enquiries from the traffic it received.

Hawkesworth partnered with Mitchell & Stones to rebuild its organic acquisition from the ground up, addressing both the technical issues holding back visibility and the copy that was attracting the wrong kind of traffic. Within four months, this delivered a 75.7% rise in overall site traffic and a 2,267% increase in enquiry form submissions – turning a reputable but underperforming website into a genuine source of commercial leads.

The challenge

Hawkesworth had earned an outstanding reputation within its industry, but its digital presence did not reflect the quality of the business.

The website had evolved without a clear SEO strategy, resulting in technical issues, underperforming service pages and content that attracted visitors who were unlikely to become customers.

Although the business already had strong credibility, its website generated very few enquiries from organic search.

The challenge was not simply increasing traffic – it was ensuring the right organisations could find Hawkesworth and that the website converted those visitors into meaningful enquiries.

Our approach

We began with a comprehensive technical and content audit to identify the barriers limiting both search visibility and conversions.

The website was restructured around Hawkesworth’s highest-value services, with new keyword-focused copy designed to attract organisations actively searching for compliance support rather than general information.

Alongside technical SEO improvements, we redesigned conversion pathways across the website, making it easier for visitors to move from landing on a page to requesting a quote or making an enquiry.

The result was an SEO strategy focused on commercial outcomes rather than traffic alone.
